Hello All,

I went out and hit a freshly plowed field.. got one 3 ringer but it was just too hard to hunt so I packed up and went to another spot. This is the backside of a camp we use to hunt years ago that was developed. There is a stance of woods and a stream so I worked my way down along the stream. I dug a few sharps within a few minutes so I knew the spot was good. The first brass item was the oval saddle, as soon as I dug it I thought "man, let me find the shield!" and on the next swing.. bam!! there it was! Broken but that is ok!! I got another hit with in 6 inches and though I had more of the saddle brass when the little brass and gold plated piece came out.. i thought clover as soon as I saw it.. but have no idea what it is?? The next sweep, I'm still with in a foot of where I dug the saddle pieces, bam.. I dig the match safe with the Four leaf Clover on it!!! I hunted the area around there hard after that.. some iron and shot gun shells mostly but as I started circling out I got the rest of the Sharps and one three ringer...

Anybody have any idea what the "clover" like thing is??? It sort of looked like a pin back but hard to tell.

Re: Cav Camp - Saddle Shield, Sharps and 2 Irish Relics

can't ID anything for you but you have some nice finds!

Does the unknown clover piece have "teeth" on the back? I'd be willing to bet it's a suspender clip.

That's some Fantastic saddle brass!

Ha.. I thought that too.. but no the "back" was just a brass outline of the front sort of.. minus the clover looking part..

I have three confirmed NY camps or actions with in 1 mile of me... so it is possible.. if not Irish Brigade.. then they still had a lot of Irish..

Thanks man!! ;-) This was one of those really random things.. I had thought about hitting the spot before.. and after hunting that plowed field yesterday I was "done".. didn't feel good.. caught some funk from my boys!! but then remembered I wanted to hit those woods.. they were close.. and thought what the heck?? I'll give it 5 minutes.. Glad I did.. Honestly, all this stuff together is about as good as finding a plate to me..
