Recently had a conversation with an elderly resident of Jackson,MO. She told me of a camp where as a girl she and her family would camp by an old civil war encampment.
The location is in Bollinger Co. near the Wayne county line. On Hwy 34 right at Rte Y there is a place called Twin Bridges on Castor River. In the field next to Hwy 34, on the south side of the road and the west side of the river, was the encampment. She said that they would find spent bullets and other pieces of metal in the field next to the highway and the river. Route Y, which continues as County Rd. 736 was a military road and ended at Rt. E.
Hope this helps someone as my health is no longer stable. Now I mostly coin shoot in town.
Take care and HH. Hope someone finds some gold!

P.S. At the small hamlet of Buchanan there was a stave mill that operated at Factory Pond in the 1930s.
