Civil War button (solved)

A friend of mine found this a while back and tossed it aside thinking it was "just another eagle button." When I saw it for the first time today I knew it wasn't, so I thought I'd post it here to see what information I could get from the experts. It is cuff sized and the back is damaged/unreadable, but I believe it to be a confederate naval button. He is hoping so too, so any information would be appreciated (especially a link to an identical one for sale somewhere). Thank you and sorry if the picture is a little blurry.

It's not a confederate naval button, rather a Civil War era Federal issue (design at least) I'll hook you up with a link, just a sec.

Shouldn't be too disappointed, I've only seen 2 Confederate Navys posted here in my 3 years on the forum.. It's still a great piece of Civil War History and carries much more value in his display than what someone is willing to pay for it in dollars
