I recently acquired a small hardcover book entitled "Patriots of Salem" which was printed immediately after the Civil War. In it it lists all of the individuals from the Salem Mass area who fought in the war, their regiment, rank, and when they were mustered out, killed, wounded, etc. No narrative, just names, ranks, and details of over 3,000 men. Has anyone heard of this book? I'm from the deep south, and it intrigues me. In fact, more than a few of the guys listed in the book died in Andersonville and Thomasville Prisons, being approximately 80 and 25 miles from my home, respectively.
