Hey guys. My father left me a CSA belt buckle and belt when he passed away. I don't know anything about this stuff. The belt is definitely extremely old and appears to have been on this belt buckle for many years. The belt is about 1 3/8” wide and 38 ¼” long. The buckle is about 1.75” X 2 5/8”. I was wondering if anyone here could help me determine whether it is a fake or the real thing. Any info is appreciated. Here are the pics:

I don't exactly like a couple of things about the plate. First, the dot on the A should not be touching. Also, where the hooks attach on the back usually made a mark on the face of the plate and that doesn't seem to be there. Finally, along the edge of the plate you can usually see file marks. From the pic they don't seem to be there. Please understand, I may be totally off base here. It is somewhat hard to make a definite evaluation without holding the plate in your hand. That and the fact that I am not an expert on plates. But I did dig one of those plates.

Like duggap said it is very hard to truly say weather it is a CW buckle or not unless it is in your hand.
I am no expert on buckles,I have never even dug one.So I can only offer my opinion.Just looking at the
buckle there is something about the way it looks leads me to believe that it is a modern copy.So I am
going to post some links that might help you.I do hope it turns out to be real.Congrats and thanks for
sharing it with us.

Hello again:

Here is a CSA Belt Plate that looks similar to yours. Info given is "Rounded Corner Variant, 45mm x 64mm, Fredericksburg, Virginia.

The other one is your plate for comparison. Can't preview posts when posting pics off the hard drive so hope it works.

This is a C.S.A. buckle I dug about a month ago. My buckle is a "Virginia Style" or I've also seen it posted as a "Tennessee Style". I see some differences in the two, but I am no expert.....You might try to get in touch with some of the big time relic folks and they can tell you more. If it is real, it looks to be in beautiful condition.

My hunch is that you have a reproduction plate there.
