Spent a few hours yesterday morning at the historic church in York, PA. The highlight was the civil war bullet. There is a legend that confederate troops stopped here to water their horses. Unless they had some stolen Union equipment, it appears that federal troops stopped here too. Any help on the ? items? The button looking item (?5) has a wide threaded ring on the back.

Update: Turns out the face thing is a vintage Mercury hubcap emblem.

Hey there! I'm from the area too, I think I know what church you're talking about! Now about the bullet, see that mold seam? I do believe that means it's likely confederate. I think you have a good one there! :D The only cicil war stuff I've found in York Co has been towards the river.

allot of cool Keepers

FORCE I THINK FORD HAD A COMMERCIAL THAT FEATURED MERC AND THE PHRASE THAT SAID MERCURY THE WINGS OF MAN I MAY NOT BE RIGHT ABOUT BUT I HEARD THAT SOMEWHERE ANYWAY . I HAVE PROBALLY PASSED BY THE CHURCH , WE EITHER TRAVEL TO LANCASTER OR YORK SIGHTSEEING LIKE CHEECH AND CHONG WITH THE WINDOWS ROLLED UP . YOU GOT SOME COOL PEICES . WONDER WHO WK IS .

Cool digs. Looks like you pulled some nice relics and coins. :occasion14:

The button looking thing with threading looks like a lid to a gun powder tin or maybe a lid for an oil lamp (the side access to pour the oil into)

You got some nice stuff there gforce! My favorite relic is the octagonal piece with the initials WK on it! Great job and nice write-up

Nice assortment of finds. Love that Indian Head!!!! Great color!!!

Great finds! That Mercury emblem is really neat

It was found about two feet from the bullet. I like your ideas. I'll do more research. Thanks.

Great stuff!!!!!! Congrats on your finds, enjoy and HH

So this bullet I found... Thought it was a union minie. As Luke pointed out above, it is side cast and has a seam...the union versions were not made that way, only the confederate vers. My books on CW bullets confirm this. So it turns out that it is a confederate bullet! The legend is confirmed!
