Well, I was cleaning coins in the tumbler and rolling them while sitting on the patio, but the constant drone of the cicadas finally got to me. Now for those of you who aren't familiar with these somewhat large, red-eyed, flying insects, they emerge every 17 years and hang around for about 5-6 weeks. This year in southwest Ohio, we have Brood X that has emerged (as opposed to a different Brood that emerged here in 2004) and there are about 5 billion of them!! They really don't do any harm, but their constant singing can be annoying. They have a very short bucket list....sing and mate . I've also noticed all our birds seem very fat and happy . I've included a few pics of one of the cicadas in our backyard.
