In another post I said how I have gotten permission to hunt almost everywhere in this one old town near me. Well Sunday I finally caught the owner of the old church at home. I talked with him for a few minutes and then asked to hunt. At first he was a little hesitant, then asked if I could do him a favor first, try and find his property stakes. I said I would give it a try. Well the neighbor came out and said he thought someone had pulled them up. Well I started looking where the owner thought they would be and after about 10 minutes and a few feet from where he remembered I found one. We then went to the other side and bamm there was another. We tried for another 15 minutes to find the back ones and no luck. He was happy with the ones I had found and said I could hunt the church. Well it was to hot sunday, so I went back home and jumped in the pool. Monday afternoon I headed over and hunted about an hour and a half. I found the barber, rosy, war nickle and a few wheat's. Last night I hit wheat city and found 10 of the 14 and the Buffalo's, and war nickle. Then I helped another person in town, who was moving their trampoline and they said I could hunt any of there property I wanted. He then told me about the old depot that was built in the 1870s. I now have more places to hunt than I have time. ;D

The coins. Wheat's are 37,44,30,20,38,44,19,35,19,41,41,20,41d,26d. The Buffalo's..1918,1920. War nickles..1942,1944 The rosy..1946 The Barber 1914d and it is in great shape...

Thanks for looking....

Fantastic finds, always great to have more places than time. For once you wish that barber dime would have been a wheatie. A 1914 d wheat in that condition would pay for a metal detector. Looking forward to more posts...Ryan

That Barber is a beauty! Nice detail!

Congratulations on the permission and the finds!

I think churches are definately overlooked and good spots to hunt. The problem I have is that someone frequently says,"Sure , you can hunt if you come to church on Sunday". Well, I have a church if I choose to attend services and I would feel like I was being disloyal. Secondly, religion is not my strongest suite although I was reared Southern Baptist who pretty much believed anything that was fun was a sin! So, I had to find a church that believed in having fun and I found one, the denomination I won't mention. Anyway, that has too often been my dilema about hunting churches. Oh, and great finds, now that the sermon is over! ::) Monty

THAT IS ONE GREAT LOOKING DIME! HOPE YOU FIND MORE IN THAT LOCATION. MONTY IS RIGHT ABOUT CHURCHES BEING OVER LOOKED SOME TIMES.

Very nice finds there, Lucky, especially the '14d barber. It's in great shape. Hope you find more at that place, and good luck at all your other sites.

Thanks for the replies. I forgot to mention the church has been closed for over 20 years. It is pretty run down.

Good site! Sounds like you have a good situation going; we'll look forward to some more goodies from you. Love the Barber.

Thats a beautiful Barber!
