I got permission last hunt for a field next to a mid 1800's church. From afar it looked rough, but once you got in there it wasn't too bad. I think I'll wait until they hay it before going back though.

I found this old button, which looks like it used to have some swagger.

Also, this big 'ole axe head. They're both pretty corroded, and I can't make out a thing.

Don't know about the "swaggar" but waiting till the next crop , might be a good thing ?. Then again if you can swing.......
 

As touched on above, the signs are there, keep at that one........
 

That's a real nice button. You should clean it up and post another pic.
 

If you are digging flat buttons, then that is the type of site you want to be digging.

Great signs. There will be more to find there.

Found an axe head just like yours recently on a CW campsite. Heavily corroded and deep in the bank of a small creek. Can't say with any certainty that it is actually related to the CW camp, but neat find anyway.
