The swastika was considered good luck long before the nazis stole it. Sometimes the arms were turned the opposite direction but I have seen them both ways. No doubt designed to be a good luck charm of some kind. Monty

I once lived in Kirkland Lake Ontario which is right next to Swastika Ontario.

The town has the claim to fame that a person from there may have passed on the 'good luck' symbol to the Nazi party. The town used the Swastika in their advertizing for the drug company there as early as 1922. The town has an interesting museum.
