Merry Christmas everyone!

I was able to step out for about an hour at my parents today and walk the creek. I found this nice little scraper and what I think is a nutting stone or at least some sort of artifact. I think it’s man made based on the taper of the hole and how smooth it is. I know natural erosion can do some pretty impressive stuff but this “feels” man made to me.

I would love to hear opinions on whether or not this is natural or man made.

Thanks!

Looks like a nutting stone to me. Nice find, the ones I’ve seen are usually too heavy to lug.

Any advice on how to identify the difference between natural formations in rocks and man made? I think I do a decent job of identify the difference but I can’t really explain why. It’s just more of a feeling I get vs being able to articulate the difference between a nutting stone that has been pecked out vs a stone that has been eroded by a stone swirling around or something like that..

I like it. Congrats
