I found this thing at one of my HUNTED foundation sites........ Is this a printing plate? I thought they were made of lead, but this one is made of brass or copper! :icon_scratch: Pics...........

Very cool! I agree, it's an advertising plate for Philadelphia-area publications (since the only address given is the road). They also had a foundry in New York.

That is a awesome relic.

if it's made of lead, it's probably a stamp from the co. office. the hole on the back is for the handle. plates made for mass reproduction, are typically made from copper, it lasts longer.

I have found Paper embossing stamps from the 1850's...all made of brass.Neat find!!
