So it's christmas and i'm at the in-laws(fun) :'( I started talking about my hobby and things i've found. Then the wife's brother in law tells me how he lost his diamond wedding band in his yard last year when he was buttering up some lobster tails at the grill.Well as usual he was pretty buttered himself when he lost it.Anyway yesterday we went over to his house,he explained to the best of his drunken recollection the approximate area where he could have lost it.I searched for approx.2 hours with nothing but a couple zincs and a nail or two,and a few pieces of aluminum foil.As I (we) were about to give up,I asked him which tree he was using to (relieve) himself behind.Since they live in a rural area I knew he wasn't running inside everytime he had to answer the "call of nature".We headed in that direction,i'm swingin low and slow, nothing, all the way to the tree, nothing.Well wouldn't you know it,as soon as I got behind the tree I got a nice double beep. Now, since this was "his"territory,I pin-pointed my signal and showed him where to "dig".He was scraping away at the surface pine-needles on the ground,he wasn't looking for 5-10 seconds before"BAM"there it was.He said it was a nice ring but damn, that thing had to be at least a full carat.Well,I felt good afterwards and we were all talking about how cool it was that I found his ring. Then his father tells me a friend of his lost a $25,000 Rolex on a beach not far from here. He's even gonna take me to the spot where he and his friend were at when he lost it.I told him that the recent hurricanes from last summer probably washed it away. Then he told me the guy had lost it after the hurricanes and he'd already collected insurance money on it!So I know it's like searching for a needle in a really-really big haystack, but hey, it gives me something and somewhere to focus on, and you never know! The second lead I received at christmas was regarding a piece of land that the wifes' mother owns.My mother in law tells me she lost a diamond ring out there camping over twenty five years ago.The land hasn't changed in that time and we are planning a trip to go and search the probable area/s where she may have lost it.That would put me in REALLY good graces with the M-IN-LAW,to be able to find that ring!Wish me luck!H.H.
