The first choice option today was an easy decision. Finish off the Celtic area that I found the Banner Gold Coin now that the oilseed rape has been cultivated in. It was a bit choppy, being heavy clay, but still our best chance at the moment. I was hoping for a Celtic Coin & I felt sure we would at least get a hammered - neither happen:
3 Hours to complete:
1 Scrappy
Lead Token
Jetton
Crotal Bell
3 Broken 1st C AD Roman Brooches
Mystery Roman/Celtic Partifact
Tudor Strapend
Spec. Buckle

We then tried the Roman Lion Site for 30 mins & that was a bust.

Moved to a Roman Site on a hill, not much on it but we haven't done it over & over.
2.5 hrs (some of it in the rain):
9 Roman Coins
Top of a 6th C AD Saxon Brooch
Top of a Roman Fibula
18/19th C Seal Matrix (bust off top/loop)
1937 Sixpence (saved my silver streak whilst wandering)
Very Rare Tasciovanus Bronze Unit (funning being the first from this field after we blanked on a Celtic Site for 3 hours!)

Persistence pays off again. As always, thanks for posting and congratulations, Cru.

Congratulations on your interesting finds you brought to light! It's amazing the Roman stuff is still out there! Good luck on your continued hunts!

Good to get an unexpected Celtic Bronze after a long day out! Not a bad day with Saxon and Celtic finds.. :occasion14:

What always amazes me is that you can identify even the oldest, most obscure coins and artifacts. You are truly an expert in your field! (pun intended)

How have I not seen the term, "partifact"? Almost everything I find is a partifact.

Anyway, you still have some time left to coast on the gold coin. No pressure.

Ah Cru....your finds continue to amaze. Us Yanks are certainly jealous of your finds.....but what I think we are MOST envious of is your abundance of great locations to choose from. I have not heard too many Yanks fret about which one of their great sites they need to decide to hunt at. :laughing7:

It's a good problem to have as well as a headache. Keeping track of nearly 50 Roman Sites & trying to bring new ones online as well as thinking outside of the target box for other good leads, keeps us busy. Good job Cru'dad is retired!

Being a novice, I found just being on one field over over there left me overwhelmed.....the way you and Cru'dad document and organize your hunts is on another level...
