I have found a bunch of these plates at one of my sites. Any help trying to make out the text on this one would be appreciated.
Also trying to identify the manufacturer in this advertisement.

I can see, and may be wrong,

Arlsly.... (rest of the word rusted away where the nail or screw was)
Chocolates
Sweet

and cant make out the last word. At first I saw Creamy but looking closely thats not it. There is also some smaller text that I can't make out.

Thanks for looking.

Re: Chocolate Printing Plate help needed

Press it on a stamp pad and make a print on paper to see what you get. Tony

Re: Chocolate Printing Plate help needed

Trying to search for old chocolate companies in the newspapers...but without knowning that first word...UGH!!!

Anyway you can scan or get a close up of these two sections? I pulled them up and try to do various things to them in my graphics program...to no avail (pulling out hair) :)

Thanks, if you can get a close up of these two sections...
Annmarie

PS: under sweets, at first I thought it said CHERRIES...but the letters did not seem to fit...what I come up with are variations of what I believe I read...

Phreinos
Phreinas
Chieinos

Anyone have an idea???? I thought Peanuts, but that didn't fit either.

As for the name....I thought Hershey's...but that definitely looks like an "A"...

Arlslyeos
Arlslyeas
Aelslyeos
Aelslyeas

Just some variations I was looking at....

Me again: Messing with it in my graphics progam....

Chocolates
Sweet
Friends (I think that is the word)

Re: Chocolate Printing Plate help needed

Ron and Ann: Sure does look like Friends to me.

Montana Jim: Thanks for the pic, could not figure out how to do that with my graphics progarm.

So I have finally sat down tonight to try and read all of these plates. I have found 16 so far. Most of them have advertisements for the United Drug Company but the one above was the first for the chocolate company.

Having gotten a bit further along deciphering them, I have found two others with chocolate adds, but still cannot read the company. I'll post them for you all to look at.

I will also post the high resolution copies up to a website if anyone wants to play with those copies. I'll post the link once that is done.
(hang tight, having trouble with this. They are 1.8 MB or higher and having trouble finding a spot)

Re: Chocolate Printing Plate help needed

Thanks for the new pics...

And if you use MIRROR option under IMAGE (well, it's IMAGE in my program)..it will reverse the text for you....

I'll see what I can decifier....

The Red Box....that is the small text....tried finding anything on

Arlslyle Chocolates and variations of Arlslylo, Aelslylo, Aelslyle....gonna' try THE RED BOX now...

Think I found the name...here's two ads...the first one misspelled the companies name....the name is ARTSTYLE Chocolates.

Oh man, I wish I could find some like that. Those are really neat. I did search earlier, but I was using the Arlsly name too. Ann, you really nailed it on the spot. Congrats!
