Thisis also in Today's Finds but posting it here also as a Whatzit.

I found a coin today. I believe it to be Chinese. Have no idea of dating as there are no english markings anywhere that i can find. I cannot get a good picture of the coin but have found a VERY similar, ALMOST IDENTICAL, coin that I am attaching a picture of. It is the one in the top right-hand corner (#14). It is the size of silver dollar

Any help appreciated. Thanks for looking and thanks in advance for any help.

I have a quarter sized copper coin with the crossed flags (US and ROC, * sigh *). I believe they were minted in the 40's up to about 1947 when the Republicans fell to the Communists and fled off the mainland. Back when we were good enough pals they used our flag on their coins. Pity.

Neither flag is US... more to follow... ;)

I'm looking at Chinese Republic coins... Early 1900s (1900 - 1930ish).

Update: "The flag is the Revolutionary Army Flag 1911-1912. The flag appears on a number of Chinese coins issued between about 1912 and the 1920's. It usually appears on the coins crossed with the 5 band Flag of the Republic, with the Revolution flag on the right and the Republic flag on the left." From this source: http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/cn_speci.html

At least this gives you possible dates... still looking for THE coin.

Update: Okay... my eyes hurt from looking at coins... Yours is a "two cash" coin based on the charactors on the reverse...

I am done.

Well I R disappointed. Here's a selection from 1904 when they were still writing in the ideograms.

I thought the ten symbol is the + and the two symbol is the = ???

I googled the above coin and found it... it's a different denomination (I think).. May I see a picture or site that shows the same reverse? I want to make sure I didn't give bad info... :-\

Oh crap... could it be the + is over the = on the original? I'm all screwed up now...

Yeah, but all these years I thought it was a U.S. Flag & a Chinese Flag. Mine is a coin Dad had (b.1912 - d.1996) and is worn smooth where the stars would be. I'll only accept partial on this one. :(
