I found it with a few goodies. a bus token from 20s, barber dime of unknown date, 2 mercs 1917,1920s,3 buffs, 7 wheats (1909-1926) 1 looks like a 1909s can't read back yet and this Chinese bronze or copper coin . Thanks! It is still really junked up but picture shows some marking I hope you can use it to identify.

A lot of these chinese cast coins are common. I see boxes of these in flea markets about twice a year. The neat thing about them is that some of the castings were done in the 1700's or earlier. i found one that was cast in 1780 to I think about 1830 something.

You are going to need to show more detail, there are very slight differences between Dynasties, and Mints. There are some uncommon ones but most are worth very little, however the majority seem to be 1600-1700's vintage

I think they are still casting these things. You can find clearly modern ones at bead shows. Pure junk in comparison to the old ones. Pot metal washed with brass, maybe.

I'll do some more cleaning. Thanks.

Hi what you got is a chinese cash coin from Emperor Kuang-Hsu from the period 1875-1908. Your pic shows the coin rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise from upright. These were made either in cast brass, or machine struck bronze... hard to tell from your pic which one. The struck bronze ones are thinner and uniformly round.

Those dates would fit where I found it. It is rather thin and I'd say very uniformly round. Thanks for your keen eye.
I'll mark it solved!

You have a better eye than I if you can see that. chinesecopper rotated90.webp

The photos are of an old Chinese coin found in NW Ohio. It was found about 10 inches deep while detecting. The dimensions are 1-7/8in. long, 1-1/4in. wide and 1/8 in. thick. The coin was found a few years ago by a family member and who was showing it off with other finds. I am asking for help to identify the year and Dynasty. I have tried to attach photos but for some reason this site would not let me. The best info is that is dated to the 1600s
