I found this Metal Detecting on Monday, it was posted in today's finds with other recovered items and a person identified it as a Chinese cash coin. I am wondering if there is enough detail to tell how old this coin is, is it modern or is it from 17 or 1800s ??

Found information on the Internet dating these coins from the 1600s to 1800s. Is mine from that time period?

Thanks any information and help is appreciated.

Your Chinese cash coin was minted between 1795 - 1799 in Bejing.
It hasn't been confirmed that it was a commemorative or standard issue though.

So this coin is actually from the 1700's or some modern commemorative?

It's from the 1700s. The ruler had passed away and there was a new one, but they struck these pieces with the old one still. It might be a posthumous commemorative for him, but no one knows exactly. The date is correct though.

Thanks! I'll consider this solved .
