Child's treasure trove found... no metal detector used in recovery.

Hi All,

This wasn't something I found today, but I wanted to share it with you anyway.

Three years ago my wife and I purchased a new home (new to us, it was built in 1940).
It's a fairly big house with a big yard. In the back yard there is a tennis court with a little building that was used for changing. It is screened-in on the front a sides. The back has a sink in the middle with changing rooms on either side.

One day while cleaning up the sink area, we noticed there was a cabinet above that we had not opened. Being a TH'er, I just had to have a look inside. I was hoping for something neat, but we were not prepared for what we found.

Have a look at these....

Those look like Tonka early 1960's (I have the green one) and possible some other manufacturers - - I have a large collection of vintage toys. Nice finds, if you are interested in selling - I buy. Great post and story.

Cool! Now if ya just put a sandbox out by the swings, you're all set. ;) J/K
Just shows that treasure shows up when you least expect it. Congrats on a nice collection.

Nothing like finding treasure in your own back yard. That is very cool!!! I have 3 boys who would be ecstatic if we found something like that (but they would only get to look).

Nice finds....
I think the mint green truck on the bottom left is an ertyl.
My brother in law collects old toy farm stuff and i f that truck is in good shape could be worth 150 -250 dollars.
The rest of them look in good shape and may be worth a bit of money also.
Wish finding good stuff was always that easy!!!

Great finds...and you did even have to dig :D :D. Way to go. They are in great shape for looking as old as they do.

Yes quiet a great group of vintage trucks there and the condition looks great !! On ebay you would get a pretty penny for these as they are very collectable :)

Congrats...some of those old press steel trucks go for a nice amount on ebay. I would do a search on ebay under completed auctions. It will give you a feel for what they are going for. The completed auctions is under advanced searches. I usually look there before listing anything for sale. There seems to be a pretty wide range of prices for these type of trucks.

Good luck

Wow! I had nearly everyone of those when I was growing up. Most were from my older brother. He is 46 years old now. Very cool.
