It's pewter. Thought it was a small finial but no attachment point.
So I'm thinking a game piece

Lid to an incense burner would be my first guess, but then again, I've only seen them made of brass.

Could be a wax matrix missing the bottom? I would go back and check the hole for a stone or metal mold that was attached to the bottom.
