Hi Everyone,
I want to bring to your attention something I found on the inside of one of my rings that I was checking out to sell, since they are buying gold at a high price. As I was going through my rings I came across one ring that I thought was gold plated. At first I thought I saw 14KF, but after closer view, I found out that the ring said 14KP. Since I have never heard of "KP" I thought I would check it out and here is what I found:
In the context of gold jewelry, "plumb" is an old-fashioned term that means that the fineness or purity level of the gold content is precisely what is stamped on the item. The word "Plumb" or the letter P still sometimes follows the metal stamp (e.g., "14k Plumb," "14KP").
As you can see its easy to mistake that P for an F. Especially if you wear bifocals like me. So check your rings again so you don't throw away somethings thats valuable. Take Care!
