"Returning a few minutes later she found the butter-knife gone and suspected the rats..."

Interesting. I would have suspected the English, but that's just me...

What Surprises me the Most she left the Room for a "Few Minutes " ?
that's some Bold Rats ! Or an Infestation.
I would think those Few Minutes would need to be more like an hour or so,
of silence before The Rat would venture Out.

Rats are easy to train............ and work cheap.

Rats are kinda like groundhogs. At my one nice site, the farmer dozed the one set of groundhog holes over. In the process he turned up some minie balls and a $1 gold coin Tommybuckets found. We had pounded that hilltop several times and all of a sudden they plowed or dozed the relics UP this year! Joy!
