Not sure what it is. The stone is purple like an Amethyst and the material looks to be silver. No markings on the inside. It has an antique look about it but since it was found on an elementary school playground I'm kinda leaning toward cheap.
I don't know,,, sure looks to be silver from the pic...
You might have gotten lucky, and some kid got into Grandma's jewelry box
Looks great either way, WTG!!!
Good luck & Happy hunting~
Nice find crutch,
This is an Indian (as in India) Silver ring. We find lots of these from swap meets, etc out here in So Cal.
Still it is quite stylish and I wouldn't mind adding it to my case.
Never discount anything found on a school yard playground as being cheap. I can vividly remember carrying my great grandfather's masonic ring to school and losing it on the playground. Lucky for me my dad found it after I told him about it when I got home. Yup, he found it. I was just waiting to get my hide tanned, but he said because I did the right thing and came and told him right away, that Someone upstairs was smiling.

Looks like silver and a cabachon amythest to me.
May be kinda inexpensive, but I wouldn't call it cheap!

Thanks everyone, now to do the right thing and call the school and see if they have any lost items reported. I haven't quite figured out how to tell the owner of the lost item I'll trade it back to them for permission to hunt and old, worthwhile spot. I'm not sure I could word it right. Anyway, if they have a good discription of the ring I'll give it back regardless.
