Cheaper machines with larger coils

I am searching for a strong box that could be ~5’ down. I have been recommended the TM808 and Gemini 3 but I can’t afford those machines. If I bought a cheaper detector and put a large coil on it, could that work? I found a dfx for 350 on eBay, could an 18” coil (or larger) work as well as the 808?

Not 5 feet with any coil I know of, your best bet is like you said a box type detector you might be able to rent one?
