Cheap Jewelry Hoard Located (Cache, Stash, Bonanza?)

Updated my nox 600 to the 3.0 software last night, wanted to take it somewhere today to try it out since the weather was cool. Needed a place that is mowed as i promised my wife no more ticks or chiggers, so I stay out of the woods in the summer.

Picked an old farm field that is now public property. Was detecting up by the road where people have to walk due to no sidewalk on this side. There is a spot where an old fence used to be, found a few quarters and dimes, just clad. Then up against a tree i get a 28 signal. I pull a nice sterling ring with turquiose.


Excited, I take a few more steps and get a nice lower 30's signal. I think clad quarter but nope, its another sterling ring and its huge.



Two pieces of jewelry in a row, what is going on here?

Scan the area and start getting mid tones, welp time to dig it all.







There was jewelry everywhere. Some of it looked gold but I wasn't sure. I spent a hour or so digging every signal in a small area about 10 x 10. I switched from park1 to park2 and it really helped finding the little stuff.

No idea if there is gold in the mess or not, but several of the rings are silver.

Probably the most fun I've had detecting ever.

Nothing cheap about those beautiful turquoise rings. The other rings look like silver as well.

Kind of what we were thinking. There are a few markings that my wife is trying to track down the owner on Facebook. It's going to be tough as dates on this stuff is from the late 70's and it's a common name.

Great score! Wow!.... what a pile of beautiful stuff.... it’s hard to say how it all got there, strewn around in that area. It’s not like it was buried intentionally but just...lost? There most certainly is a story behind all of that, if jewelry could talk. Congrats on those great saves... Ddf.

Last time I saw a similar find here like that it was a robbery. I guess the thief had cherry picked for obvious gold and diamonds and tossed the rest. Dirtstalker dug it all up over several days, and put an ad in the local paper. He actually found the owner and she'd been robbed. She was thrilled to get the stuff back for sentimental reasons. How deep was it all?

Cool story. It was 2 inches deep mostly. It's been there a while. All we have to go by is a first name and a college year.

I'm leaning toward a thief being chased, the closer the proximity to a road vis a vis a walking path might be a determining factor.

Nothing like the feeling when you keep removing things from the same hole. Whether coins, jewelry, nails pop tops whatever. Very exciting stuff!

Small update. I had forgotten a small metal box I found nearby, didn't think it was related to the jewelry but it was. Inside was more jewelry including something with initials. We now have narrowed it down to two people in the yearbook. Wife is searching.
