I noticed the outer ring of my coil on my Mark II was getting quite worn, so I wrapped some fiber loom (aka wire loom) around the coil, zipped tied it on and done. Now it does not cover the whole coil but it does keep the center slightly elevated so it doesn't rub against the shell and coral as much. I had the loom laying around shop and only planned to use it until I ordered a guard but I have been using it for a month now and it seem's to be doing the job.

Nice clean looking gear, go Denn.....😊

Doesnt it fill with sand? I took the guard off my Excalibur, because of the sand getting in. Maybe will coat it with epoxy, when it starts to show wear. I do use the cover, when in rocky terrain, in the water or dry.
