Charcoal drawing tool?

Found this a while back and was always curious to what it was. It writes perfectly espically in stone. It’s almost as if it’s some kind of ancient pencil... I’ve found burnt twigs before but this is more uniform. The top was already curved as if it had been used for drawing before. 1234.jpg2345.jpg3456.jpg4567.jpg

normally the ends would be even and square if a battery core
also, docent look perfectly round and straight

From a old dry cell flashlight battery
I'm with this nsdq fella. Yes you can draw pictures with these rods of carbon. I've done this before on the sidewalk and sides of brick buildings in the suburbs of Chicago with ones I've found in old dumping grounds along the railroad tracks. People actually tossed batteries away back then anywhere they pleased. Boy! what were they thinking:icon_scratch:
