Was helping a land owner locate some lost metal pins where he gives me permission to detect when I learned that my XLT performs better in sand (fresh water) in the relic mode than it does in the beach or coin mode. I couldn't believe the difference, I thought that I had pretty much cleaned that area out but found a generous $5 in clad and several pieces of cheap jewelry, the missing pins also. I guess it helps to get out of the box every now and then. Happy Hunting. Dan

My XLT pinpoints better in relic mode as well, I use a modified relic program for just about all detecting unless it's really trashy. Just ordered a Hot Shot 12" coil for the XLT. I'll post result in a week or so when I get to try it out. HH, Mike
