Found it while looking for pottery shards and river glass in the Patapsco River downstream from Ellicott City MD. The river is prone to periodic devastating floods and Ellicott City has been inundated regularly for two centuries. This piece looks like it's been burned...maybe washed out of an old ash pit on the river. I'm looking to learn its approximate age and origin.
