ceramic lid age?

found this in my 100 year old lake. pretty sure its a top to a sugar bowl or tea/coffee pot, but any guess on age from the style? also, the glaze on top and underneath is completely crackled. thanks again in advance! IMG_6254.JPGIMG_6255.JPG

From my days as a Depression glass collector, I can tell you that lids can sometimes be valuable. You might try a glass forum and let it be seen. You never know what may come up.

thanks duggap. I figure if someone took the time 100 years ago to leave something for me, the least I can do is to take it home and clean it up...

If you search for a match, it would likely be listed as Ironstone (rather than ceramic), and 1880's is reasonable due to the amount made then, although the style was used earlier and later. I think a sugar bowl may be a bit more likely, only due to the lack of a vent hole found on many of the teapot lids in this style.
