I found this piece of chain while detecting a brook in Mercer County, PA. There is/was an IOOF lodge in town, and I know their logo is 3 chain links, so it could be related. The chain appears to be made of ceramic. I doubt it has any industrial use, it seems a bit delicate. It isn't metallic as far as I can tell. When the chains clink or rub together, they sound kind of like glass. They seem to be somewhat roughly made and irregular, but I really don't know much about the production of ceramics. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. (This is my first post, by the way, but I have been lurking for a while).

Edit: I'm going to say it's some kind of jewelry.

Well first off...
A BIG welcome to TreasureNet, the best place to get an ID on your finds.

Unfortunately I don't have a clue...

Welcome. The links have more of a porcelain look to me when fully enlarged. regardless of the material, I believe it was part of a necklace or some other form of vintage jewelry.

Welcome and glad you posted. In the 70s SWAG stuff was popular. Lights and other things hanging from chains. I also remember faux chains that were made of plastic, sometimes painted and sometimes not. Mostly I remember yellow ones and I think sometimes they were used as barriers to keep tourist traffic away from certain areas in an exhibit. Not sure that's what these are but you might investigate.

Best wishes!

Yeah, when I googled "ceramic chain", it was all weird jewlery that came up, but I didn't think that anybody would actually wear that kind of thing. I guess the 70s were just a weird time. I suppose the cjain could be porcelain, but it definitely isn't plastic. It has to be decorative based on how delicate it seems. I'm leaning towards it being weird 70s jewlery now, but I won't mark this as solved just yet.
