I found this ceramic bottle in a lake in Nova Scotia, it looks hand made. It even still has a quark on the inside. No markings on it whatsoever. Can anybody suggest an age/usage?

"Quarks - any of a number of subatomic particles carrying a fractional electric charge, postulated as building blocks of the hadrons. Quarks have not been directly observed but theoretical predictions based on their existence have been confirmed experimentally."

I didn't see a quark in your photo and after reading the definition I'm not surprised. :laughing7:

Cool bottle!

My first thought was a large 'ink bottle', as I've found similar bottle fragments here in Ontario. :icon_scratch:
Here's the base of one I found on a c1840 site this past spring.

Most of the ginger beer bottles I've seen have been fired glazed clay to keep the beer inside from spoiling, this bottle looks to be salt glazed.
But I think Mick is most likely correct in his suggestion that it's an early ginger beer bottle... c1830 - 60.

Nice find,
Dave
