Naaa.Everyone's like me and my buddies :in their youth,10 feet tall and bullet proof.30 years later;rock hard lungs and a portable O/2 tank to go take a whiz.Hoser John said:Hard, noisy, nasty work. Mining men are a definate seperate breed by themself. No dust/vapor masks used Tons a au 2 u 2-John
Beaudy ! Mate. With a place like that to frolic it would be hard to go to work.Track maintenance is always a pain in the arse.I once became the most unpopular locomotive operator in the entire mine because of 35 10 ton loaded cars derailed and 2 and 1/2 miles of rail ripped out.centennial said:Gday Trukinbutch
Weve been doing alot of maintenance lately, replaced 200 metres of ventilation tubing, replaced a heap of sleepers on our rail line, some work on sections of our access track were getting washed out from some heavy rain we had, replaced a shaft and pulley on our little loco for hauling mine cars, bought a 2500 watt inverter from Ebay to use for our lighting and small power instead of a generator etc etc. I have also been working on modifing a 3 cyl diesel John Deere lawn tractor to run on rails, this will save us a lot of walking along the tunnel. I will post some photos in a couple of weeks.
We are all ready to start tunneling again now and will be going to the mine in a week to drill and blast the face, will also be going down to the river about 1km from us for a swim, the weather is starting to warm up over here now, 35 deg C as I am typing this. I will be happy to start advancing our tunnel again, the country rock is becoming more deformed , possibly a sign we are nearing the fault jog which hosts the ore shoot, time will tell.
Cheers
