📌On a wooded hill, a rare short iron sword with an anthropomorphic handle, of Celtic origin, dating from the 3rd-1st centuries BC, was discovered. A spearhead, also of Celtic origin, was also discovered, as well as a metal fragment with an ear, which comes from a scabbard of a Celtic weapon. For those interested, the photo scale on the ruler is 1 cm, and the editing of photos to dimensions is in millimeters.

Awesome historical find!!! At first glance that handle was not too ergonomic but by measurement that would fit my hand perfectly between index and little fingers with the ball centered in the palm of my hand and the size and shape of handle would make you squeeze tighter.

You sure are finding some great ancient artifacts - well done ! :icon_thumleft:

We used to put the Iron objects we found on old Shipwrecks in a Lye Bath.
We would soak them for several months - up to a year on larger pieces (like a Anchor) and then paint them.
How are you preserving your Iron pieces from further deterioration ?

Well, when I picked up the sword, I couldn't believe how well my hand fit the handle. I didn't think a handle could be so perfect. It was a special experience, as if the sword was an extension of my arm.

:o
It is the sword of Mars.
You now have the power

Are these old weapons your personal finds or part of an archaeological dig? Do they have to be reported as treasure? Since they’re not gold or silver, I hope you get to keep them!

The research is not archaeological but my own personal one and the material from which the artifacts are made is not relevant. The artifacts were given to Romanian state institutions according to the law.

Okay, I understand. I thought you were in England. My mistake. Your finds are amazing! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, please note "todays find", are for very recent finds.👍
I understand. You're right, I didn't think about that. The truth is that in recent years I've visited the forum less often and then I post what I've discovered in the meantime...
