Greetings, all. It's been quite a while but I'm back again. The warmer weather is finally coming around so I can head out and start swinging again, but in the mean time my wife and I bumped into this cedar chest at an antique store here in North GA. All the owner could tell me is that it came from an estate sale from a lady that died in her late 80's. We'd be happy if it was worth anything, but basically bought it because we liked it, so no loss either way.
There is no apparent dovetail work, the corners are held together by what appears to be some sort of faux riveted banding. The few screws that are used (to hold the handles and the inner lid support) are older flat heads. There is a round stamp on the inside lid, it is pretty blurry but we can make out: "Globe Box Co" "(unk #'s) W Lake St" and what appears to be "SC". Online research has revealed a Globe Box Co in the Houston, TX area from the early 1920's associated with the Kirby Lumber Co., but I haven't been able to find anything in South Carolina. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks! KevGA.
