Went to our new site yesterday afternoon that we've pounded the last month or so. Stopped by and decided to check an area I've already hit because the owner is building a shop on the site and I thought maybe the heavy truck traffic might have gained us a few more inches. Glad I did!! First hole right out of the truck was a flat button. Few more steps another flat. Not ten more feet and I dug the little "C" cuff button. Then I found a nice bell button. After that I got a faint signal deep. About 10 inches down out pops the CSA button!!! Anything with CSA on it has been on my wish list since getting addicted to this hobby! Few minutes later and I dug the Eagle button. Unreal hunt! All that in less than 45 minutes!

I'm glad you went back too ! A change in the conditions sometimes makes a site just like new again.

Those first two buttons are top shelf. Congrats on the condition of them.
BTW I think they look PERFECT just the way they are, the little bit of dirt remaining highlights the relief very well, nice "eye appeal"

Dang I can't wait to dig some holes.

Thanks Rick! I haven't cleaned them at all and don't plan too. Also, the rest of the story is I spent 3 1/2 hours there today and didn't even dig one flat button! Just happened to be at the right place at the right time yesterday. Thanks again

Great finds. Love the patina on those buttons

Nice buttons! Congrats!

That is a PHENOMENAL button recovery!! Congrats! Someone would be crazy not to drool on their keyboard over that great find.

Cheers,

Buck

Thanks Greylock, bootybandit, Ironpatch and Buckleboy! Still can't believe I found a CSA button! And to find a Cavalry and Eagle one in such a short hunt...I'm a blessed man! Thankful too. Thanks again for your replies.

WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!Fantastic buttons Darby. Slave tag, lots of military buttons lately. I gonna have to go with IP a bit on this one and say........now your just showing off:)
Did i say WOW!

Have hunted many years and yet to find a CSA. The condition is incredible as well. Really want to say "CONGRATS" but the jealousy thing makes it hard. Ok here goes.........CONGRATS you dog. ha ha

All I can say is DAMN! Awesome finds, congrats :occasion14:

Thanks everyone for the replies! That site has been super to say the least. We've taken around a dozen military buttons from there plus numerous other relics. Unfortunately a large portion of the site will soon be covered with crushed asphalt so we're trying to hit it while we can. Thanks again and HH!

Hit it while you can Darby, for some reason here in Eastern N.C., historical sites seem to be an ideal location for golf courses and high dollar homes. Once again, totally awesome pieces, and a great save.

Those are two beautiful Confederate buttons! I love the patina they get in that soil.

Thanks y'all. Here are some more pics showing the backs of the buttons along with the little ball button. Thanks again for looking!
