I thought I would show you all a new past-time I have, casting. These are just a few of the recent casts I have made. Starting from left to right, here is a description of the casts.

1. Scottsbluff found by Darren Dirksen on the Arkansas River, Ok. Made of Florence Chert.
2. Eden (restored) found by Rick Neil, Arkansas River, OK.
3. Scottsbluff with spokeshave, made of Reed Springs Chert, Ark. River, OK.
4. (top) Unnamed Woodland Dart, found by me earlier this year.
5. Rice Lobed, found by Don Dickson in Ark. Pictured in the Bell / Perino guide.
6. Dickson made of heated keokuk chert. Found by me in OK.
7. Calf Creek point made of Florence, found by Neil Gore on the Ark. River earlier this year.

All of these are outstanding specimens. I have several others cast, and will try to take pics of them sometime and show.

You do some great work, I can't wait to go out looking with my buddy and throw that big scottsbluff one out in front of him and watch him dive into the dirt to get it..hehehehe

Hello,

Forgive my ignorance, but what do you use as a casting medium. That looks alost like glass...really impressive...also the coloration, is it pigment added to the medium or paint after the fact....details man details.....LOL

The medium is a casting resin. The "shine" that you see actually shows just how accurate the detail is. The majority of these points were found on the Arkansas river, here in Oklahoma. Points from the river have a very high polish to them, almost looking "shellaced". The accuracy in detail is much finer than a person could ever even hope for. For instance, one arrow point I cast has "P49" in sharpie written on the side of it...and in the casts of that point..you can see those numbers. When it picks up the detail depth of a sharpie marker, that's micro..lol. If I can remember, I may try to post some pictures of some other casts that I've done recently.

Those are nice. I rember seeing a web site with a bunch of famous casts made. I think you could buy them. That will be a mean trick Cannon man, I'd do it too!

I have seen these casts first hand (THANK YOU!!) and they really are perfect in every sense of the word. I can't even tell you how much fun I am going to have this spring when my friends and I hit the fields to look for points!!!!!!!!!!!!! You wouldn't be able to tell they are made of resin unless you pick it up and feel how light they are.
