✅ SOLVED Cast iron piece

All, I found this cast iron piece at a homestead continuously inhabited since 1797. Not really sure what to make of it. The front could be a plate attached to a rod running the length down the back side. But not sure what its purpose and/or age are. Any ideas?

Villagenut, you're right it could be part of an old stove. That was my first guess when I pulled it out of the ground, but thought the metal was too thin for a stove. Time to re-think...
