Just my WAG but it kinda looks like a leg or foot for something like a wood stove or bathtub or something like that. HH Charlie

Another WAG... Looks like maybe a hinge pin was used. Could be a rain cover over an exhaust stack on a tractor???? :tongue3:

Maybe a feed cup for a small pen? The tab looks like it would be inserted into a slot, for temp. use.

It Is the catch cup for a wall mounted grinder, 1890/1920 or so. The grinder had a crank handle and would grind corn, cofee etc. The grinder had a slot below the burrs. The cup has a curved "tang". It can be angled up to slide into the slot and when lowered it would lock in place under the grinder. These were made by Interprise, Fairbanks Morse, Red Cheif and others. Tony

That makes the most sence so far . If it was heated , it seems like the paint would burn off .
