Casino vault boxes (Box #2 update)

Re: First casino vault box looks good!

Gotta love that anticipation. Good luck on the box! By the way, what is a casino vault box?

Re: First casino vault box looks good!

I mentioned it in another post. The cage manager at the casino where I work was about to send $6,000 in halves back to the bank since we're going coinless. I asked him if I could buy them and he said sure.

And wow, I hope they're all this good! My first big score of the year -

Two Franklins: 1954 & 1960-D

Fifty 40%ers:

1965 - 4
1966 - 6
1967 - 17
1968 - 17
1969 - 6

...plus a 1974-D Doubled Die, a 1974-S proof, a 2002-P and a strange 1984-D that sounds partially hollow and has a 90º rotated reverse. It's probably counterfeit. And the 54 Franklin looks like someone used it for BB gun target practice!

Can't wait for boxes #2-12!!

Re: First casino vault box looks good!

BOOYA !

Sounds like you harvested yourself a hoard :) All yours too, cant beat that.

Um, if you get sick of looking at halves and silver.... Ill take them off your hands, K ?

:D

Re: First casino vault box looks good!

That's it, Raptor gets first shot cuz he called it! ;D

The thing is, I'll have to tell the vault manager that I got skunked or he'll snag a box or three.

Re: First casino vault box looks good!

Thatta boy, thinking ahead hahaha. Good luck on the rest, that would
be some awesome fun !

Re: First casino vault box looks good!

Kudos Immy ! You've already exceeded Geraldo...after just the first box. :D

I'm keeping a good thought for the remaining; and look forward to the updates.

Re: First casino vault box looks good!

Very nice totals. I would bet that 1984D you found is not really hollow, but one that was taken apart like they do for making the double heads and double tails coins, but for some reason they put a heads with the tails. I have found two double headed coins and they both are lighter than a regular half and both sound hollow.

Re: First casino vault box looks good!

Nice haul! That's the way to play a casino. Don't you just love the sound they make? WTG!!!

You're right Wayne, that's exactly what this sounds like. The rotated reverse made me think of that possibility too.

Got box #2 sittin' next to me. No silver showing on any ends but it's the same date stamp as box 1. Results later...

Re: First casino vault box looks good!

WTG Immy.....keep us posted on the other boxes....I'm curious. Good luck!!

Re: First casino vault box looks good!

Just finished box #2 and it's back to reality.

Only one 1967 from 1000 coins, oh well. I did get another proof (1972-S) and seven post-2001's: 2002-P, 2002-D, 2003-P (x2) & 2003-D (x3).

Got a feeling box #3 will give me an indication of how the rest of the haul will go. Gotta dump these before I get it though.
