Casino pennies & halves

Friday night at my usual haunt meant lots of people. Consequently I couldn't find a vacant nickel machine to cash out my normal $40 so today it's just pennies and halves.

***$40/Pennies***

Wheat total was down but at least another [red]new[/red] date showed up.

Wheaties (6): 1945 (2), [red]1947-S[/red], 1951-D, 1957-D, 1958-D

Canadian (10): 1976, 1979, 1980 (2), 1981, 1986, 2003-P (uncrowned), 2005, [red]2005-P[/red], 2006

The 05-P is an all around first for my Canadian collection. Plus the machine spit out three dimes among the pennies. And the 1945's complete my 2nd roll for that date.

***$800/Halves***

One, lone 1967. Starting to wonder if the casinos are cherry picking silver in some back room. Ever since it hit $19-$20/oz. finds have been way down. For the record I've never see anyone else hunting the 50¢ slots. Suspicious...

Re: Casino pennies & halves

I wonder if maybe they just recycled the halves and have more than you think?
how many people (besides coin people) carry around halves to spend and or use?

It would be interesting to see if the Casinos end up having to order in a lot of coin because people take them away.

or Do they have to deposit a lot of coin because people bring it in.

I would think people would take a few novelty halves so they would have to order new boxes. This may be where the silver is coming from.

I would think they would have to bring more in. You know people put some in their pockets look how many token people walk out with and they can not spend them.

Thanks

yeah. Kind of like how that jeweler who was counterfeiting casino tokens a few years back in Jersey, thats how they caught him, the casinos were doing audits and found they had more tokens than they had ever had made...but they always lose tokens due to souvenirs and walk offs, who brings more than a handful away or back. But when your $20 grand up...they start looking LOL

Of course I supposed there is always the senile old person who brings in a roll of walkers and dumps em in the slots but probably not often.

Funny how many people dont realize there are 40%ers out there. They just assume they are clad.
