I Dug up 17 bullets in all, 11 larger and 6 smaller ones. I believe they are maxi balls but not sure. I can make out rings on some of them. The area I found them is a very old area that use to have a mill there in the mid 1800's. I dug them up in about a 3 foot radius. Someone must of been doing some target practice. If anyone knows for sure what kind they are and what era please let me know. DSC_0008 (640x425) (2).jpgDSC_0009 (640x425).jpg

I believe those are just standard run of the mill modern bullets -- sorry. I believe Civil war era stuff would be conical in the back. Those look to be handgun rounds to me, perhaps 9mm or .38. To make sure, take one that is not deformed and measure its width with a caliber. The radius of the bullet will be its calibre. If you get 9mm, .38 inches, .44 inches, .22 inches, .45 inches, you likely have modern round. If its .56 inches, or something like that, its civil war. The ones in the bottom of the right photo look to be .22 long rifle. I think the others are 9 mm or .38.

Cool bullets and have now idea myself...But,I do save all of mine from parks and woods.

Them are hard to miss targets! There should be a few other goodies if others have hunted that ground and left those in place since they sound off like so many other good targets. Get back out there and dig those deep iffy sginals now!
