Carved figurine

I got this from a garage sale approx 10 yrs ago. The only thing I know is that one of the sons that used to live in the house had been to Vietnam. The woman (since passed away) was a genealogist and had all kinds of strange things. I recall seeing something similar years ago at the Los Angeles Museum of Natl History, during a Mayan or Inca exhibition (I forget, long time ago). Anyone have any idea what is it ?
