Carved Bullet, Canteen Stopper & Spout, 3 Eagle buttons, & More on Trio Hunt Today
It was a frosty 27 degrees when Dman and I arrived at the 1862 Union camp to hunt for a few more relics to add to the Trio total of 603 that we have recovered there so far. Josh was on the way. Thanks to our friend and veteran hunter Tennessee Digger who helped us locate the camp and understand the history of the site.
Josh’s best find this morning was a carved bullet and that makes 5 or 6 (at least) that I recall he has dug there. Doug showed out again by digging an iron canteen stopper and a nice pewter spout for a canteen. Those are good finds. He also dug his 4th straight eagle button in our last 4 hunts. My best finds today were the Infantry Officer’s eagle “I” eagle coat button and a coat size GS button. Both had shanks. This was my 5th straight eagle button in the last 5 hunts including a solo scouting trip last week. All of us recovered the usual bullet assortment. For F75 users: we increased our sens. setting to “85” today and dug all solid signals from “8” and higher. We dug a lot of square nails along with the relics.
It was in the low 50s when we left about noon. Doug saw his shadow and that means 6 more good weather weeks to dig relics-LOL. Listen to Buckleboy on American Digger Magazine’s Relic Roundup internet show from 8-9 pm Central time tonight-see their website for details. If you can’t listen tonight, the shows are archived and you can listen to the show later. HH from the Trio, Quindy.
