8" Long and hollowed out, one end has been filled with something. Was told it was African. Something about chewing on beetles and spitting red it in this bone? Woman wasn't too keen on it. Said her father brought it back from Africa. Only red spitting I'm aware of comes from chewing betel nuts in the Philippines. Any ideas?

Cool find! Didn't look African to me. Found this.....aaaaaaaaaaabata2.jpgaaaaaaaaaaabatak1.jpgaaaaaaaaaaabatak3.jpgaaaaaaaaaaabatak4.jpg

Batak Medicine Bone. From the highlands of North Sumatra in Indonesia. A cow bone, was used to store medicinal herbs. The lizard motif, "boraspatini tano", was a good luck and fertility symbol. Very cool!

Yeah I posted cow bone then deleted it after I couldn't find a match... ironically I was on Indonesian site that sells similar items but did not see a close enough match...

So I bailed ... due to time allotted for me being awake was up.
