Yesterday, PeteyGirl and I spent the day driving to and collecting quartz crystals at Carr Canyon, Hereford, AZ.
It is less than 7 miles from the Mexico border.
Not to worry! OHS had their "eye-in-the-sky" up.
The Canyon is set off West of Hwy 92. We will drive in and ultimately end up above the bluffs.
We found crystals! Unfortunately, the larger ones, in the centimeter range were encased in the rock. We found very tiny crystals lining the cracks of a particular rock, one of which is shown here with two views.
The first pic shows a vug FULL of small crystals. You cannot appreciate it also has many crystals IN the hole! The second pic shows millimeter and sub-millimeter crystals.
As we drove out, the blimp was grounded.
A very nice day spent on the road collecting. ╦╦Ç
