Yee-Haw! Met my dear old nemesis, the old timer from Marengo who's been racing me to the goodies for most of the last 20 years. Timed my drive so I hit the grounds as the last rain drop fell between downpours. He pulled up an hour later, called me a dirty old SOB, but brought his better half along anticipating my early arrival this year. We've been trading this early riser title off for a long time having fun with it.

The goodies included scads of clad, despite the close proximity of crack-driven carnies trying to impede my process by a variety of harrassing methods. I think one of them actually dropped the silver and pot metal chain cluster hanging from the armrest of my rig. Ha!

A cell phone battery, Mot model, a game cartridge for a Nintendo DS (Pac-Man Eats the Carnies or something like that) a giant pink "V" from some kind of garish necklace, assorted trash bling.

Got a goodly number of quarters, all told only 12 bucks or so clad, but it was a weather-shortend festival this year because of the weekend chill.

Had map of about 2 dozen totlots along the route to cover on the way home but returning rainfall cut that number to one and that was sadly empty of all but three mem cents. Did get to see quite a few rain-delayed sandhill cranes along the route picking at the cornfields and the usual spring "dash" of large snapping turtles crossing the country roads. At least they bring their own coffins along for the crawl...

Got one more to do today, it was downtown Elgin this weekend, sadly the best coin droppers were on asphalt but there were concessions on grass there.

I love all the free money at carnie sites, also all the jewelry, thats where I got that 33" 925 fugio chain last year and at another one I got over 80 quarters and over 100 dimes on the surface or just under the grass with no digging required. Tear it up I know I will be.

Hey, see ya out there Bro!

Nice digs LB !
And thanks, your story brings to mind that great scene from "Joe Dirt" ;D

Joe Dirt had way too many teeth to be a carnie. AP has almost the right teeth, lacking the crack-blackened hue of a true carnie!

Nothing wrong with a lot of clad :hello2: :hello2: :hello2:

LB, we are practically neighbors! Next year, wanna come to Apache just after the Rattlesnake festival?

Last time I drove down to Ada it took about 16 hours with a few rest stops along the way. I'd like to make it down there, but wifey keeps me to within 50 miles of home! But hey keep all us FIBs in mind when there's a good carnie in the hood down there!

Let us know how that big East Texas hunt goes if you make it, too!

Hey Dan, I recon on Sats for the best placed carnies in the metro area and try to pick two that will be close and on grass or gravel with properly positioned vomit rides. PPVR factor is huge in the decision process. Gotta get more IPods this year, mi hermanos at work really like the Lowbatts discount deals on cheap bling and electronics.

I've only hunted a couple of carnie sites in the past and yep,
they were a quick fix to score some clad. Nice hunt

There's a bunch of fest's coming up shortly in some of the
small (ond old ) SE Wisconsin towns. . . from some
of the old locals that I've talked to, they've been holding these
carns in the same places for years. :)
