Has anyone ever made their own straight shaft using carbon fiber? I was thinking of trying to make my own straight shaft for an excal using carbon fiber. Would need carbon tub around 60 inch long and 1 inch outside diam. Also is it better to epoxy your coil or could you seal your coil cover using a clear sealer to keep sand and water out.

I answered this on the other forum topic.

Aircraft spruce has the proper aluminum tubing for the shaft. All you need it 3' and the bottom shaft slips into it. drill your holes, make a cup out of scrap aluminum flat stock or a piece of PVC, get a bicycle end bar grip and epoxy the coil and there you have it for about $35.00 or go to e bay and buy a straight shaft for $85.00 or so
