Captured munitions in the Congaree River

Seems like this triggers in my memory that Lee Spence recovered a bunch of this stuff some years back.

He posts on the forum sometimes (usually the Shipwreck forum), you can send him an IM and ask him, I'd be interested to know his response.

The goofy thing is the state wants to claim whatever's recovered. They don't have room to put all of this on display, and they don't have the manpower or the facilities to even catalogue it. Which means they'll cherrypick a few things to display, and the rest will be locked away in a warehouse or destroyed. They have so much stuff locked away out of sight now that they don't even know what they have...what do they think they're going to do with potentially hundreds of thousands of bullets and other artifacts that they already have examples of that they don't have room to display?

Good question. I now they had a big hit a while ago, but with that tar removal it should open up a good chunk of relics. What I wonder is how the relics under the tar handled the time versus those that weren't.
