I used to live in Canton and when I was researching the area I came across a story about a gentleman that is reported to have buried about 50k and then hung himself in the woods, this was back in the 1920's. He was an ecentric living with his sister and shortly after she died, he killed himself. I do not know if the money was in coin or paper or what. I do know that when his belongings were gone through there was no money, but there was a record of him withdrawing it from the bank.I tracked the area to be the woods on the left side, as you faced it, of the Kennedy School. Unfortunately a good portion of the woods belonged to the Draper Company and I was never able to aquire permission from them to do a through search. Also this area of woods at the trun of the centurary was the location for a Salvation Army Camp for children, until they got the land that they presently own in Sharon. I have found a few indian head pennies in the immediate area, but have since moved down south.
